The Association has been established in 1999 as a charitable institution of a public character with the following Object

assisting disadvantaged persons and communities throughout the wider [Boland] region (“the [Boland] Community”) to know, understand, promote, advance and enforce their legal rights, whether under the Constitution of the Republic or otherwise, with the aim thereby of empowering those persons and communities to improve their quality of life.

FLAC will be moving into new offices at the Community Centre in Mooiwater, Franschhoek, before the end of 2008

During 2009, FLAC will be raising awareness on the importance of drawing up a will, and about the rights of older persons

FLAC was founded in 1999, as a voluntary initiative to render legal aid to Franschhoek's poor.

Since 1999, FLAC has received much appreciated support from European as well as South African governments and individual supporters.
