MISSION of ZELA Projects

  1. Promote active ageing amongst older persons to keep them in families and communities for as long as possible
  2. Protect older persons and ensure that they are aware of their rights as an older person as secured in the Older Person’s Act (13 of 2006)
  3. Create and enabling environment which keeps older persons safe in families and communities
  4. To educate and promote self reliance through skills development and empowerment programmes
  5. Make aware the services available to strengthen and support older persons
  6. To facilitate a network of after care support structures and services that assist older persons to be resilient and maintain their level of re-connection and re-integration
  7. To facilitate that older persons at risk are identified early and assisted before they require indepth interventions or statutory service –this will be possible through extensive education programmes and projects

ZELA Projects entered into an agreement with the DSD in 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011 for a number of projects. FLAC is managing the admin and finances of 55 contract workers who are employed by the District Offices throughout the Western Cape to assist older persons. FLAC is also responsible for the Awareness Raising programme.

ZELA Projects is also involved in the coordination of the Golden Games event, and smaller events such as International Abuse Day and International Alzheimer Day.

 

 

 

Funding ZELA Projects is looking for corporate sponsorships in terms of their respective CSI policies.
